Postby cutUP0017 » Sat Oct 13, 2018 5:29 am

Greetings, I was able to download and install Inkscape on windows8. Where do I find the plotter drive and how do I install on window8? I would like to use the plotter to print out a .dxf file from Turbocad . Thank you for any help received

Which plotter?
What file formats does it understand?
Does it eat files, or do you need to 'print' to it?

Hi, I purchased a no name brand from ebay. The software that came with the vinyl cutter is Artcut 2009, the software is in Arabic, not English. So I am trying a different software. I was able to download and install Inkscape. Inkscape saves the file as .svg but I do not know what file format the plotter is looking. When I try to add a printer using Inkscape the plotter is not shown as a option. I am not sure where to begin on how to solve this problem, thank you for any help received.

There's no way around it, you need to find out the brand (even if no-name) of the plotter, and then find out which languages it will understand. There will be a serial number or a name somewhere on it.

Go into Control panel, "Devices and Drivers" find your cutter, look in its properties for info about manufacturer. If you are lucky you can ask Windows to update the driver using whatever it can find on the internet. Don't forget to restart, and watch out for malware if Windows says you have to go to a website to download the driver
Your mind is what you think it is.
