artsign cutter no response

Postby mrmchaffey » Mon Oct 04, 2010 4:53 pm

I have a artsign plotter its a large 60'' machine I have been attempting to make lettering for my mobile auto repair vans .

the main problem I think I am having is that the plotter doesn't show up as anything when I plug it in , I have to open the add printer on ubuntu and set as a
generic raw , but still no response other then the one or two pen down taps

also I tried tux plot and my plotter just stabs the vinyl once or twice and never moves (hpbl)

Welcome to the forum, mrmchaffey :D

I'm not sure this problem is related to Inkscape.....maybe try consulting the hardware support??

tux plot will prob not work for you. it is a china made cutter. I have done extensive test with it and I was unable to find drivers for any china made cutters. not saying that I cant or will not work but tux plot works great for Graphtec, Rolland's and engravers

what happens when you tried inkcut ? what is hpbl - if that is what it requires then that will be something special most cutters use hpgl - the Graphtec uses hpgl and gpgl I think its called.
