Corner to curve

Postby meetdilip » Tue Oct 22, 2019 2:50 am

Is it possible to change the corners of a hand-drawn " E " into curves individually ? If yes, kindly explain how. Thanks.

I believe it´s possible with the node tool fir instance or filet&chamfer LPE (Live Path Effect) - but it´s a bit theoretical without any further information or a screenshot at least.

Cheers

you can use dynamic offset to achieve limited success by scaling down afterwards (left side) for small offsets, and for large pillowy offsets scaling down first and then simple node editing - vertical and horizontal drags (right side, two steps)

The answer is basically telling you to draw the rounded corners on the shape. There is no really easy way to do this in Inkscape. It is not that difficult to use circles to cut away and add rounding to sharp corners using the Boolean operations. If you are hoping to avoid reading the manual I don't think the help available is going to be very understandable, most of the terms being used really assume the manual as a given.

Ok. The reason I asked is because Inkscape teased something like this on Twitter a few days back. Probably it was a part of 1.0 beta.

Under Path->Path Effects pop up than hit the plus sign while your drawing is selected and click Fillet/Chamfer from the list. Have a good play with the settings or drag the corner control points with the node tool. You can bake in the radii by converting with Path->Object to path.

There is no such option for me for path effects > +

I found a " fillet and chamfer " and " Rounded Corner " extension. Sadly, when I try them, none of the corners gets rounded. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Luckily the " Rounded Corner " extension somehow worked for me. Thanks Polygon

Fillet / chamfer LPE is not part of any official stable release yet. Polygon's version is taken from a development version.

That is what I have written.
In the posted link: https://superuser.com/questions/640954/ ... -of-shapes
it´s quoted that it was in the 0.91 dev cycle. So it never made in an official release? It´s so useful for technical stuff.

Cheers

It's going to be part of 1.0 - it was too buggy to be included in official versions before.
