Invalid XML file

After many years of using Inkscape, this morning I get this error dialog. Amy ideas?

You can rename (or delete) the xml file.
Inkscape will create a new one with default settings when started next time.

(I would rename it "problemPrefsXML.svg" and post it up here for examination.)

Did you have a crash, or did your antivirus update recently while Inkscape was open? Anything like that? What version and system info?

No crash or update, while Inkscape was open, that I am aware of, Windows 10, Inkscape 0.92.4.

Well I renamed the file, but is a file size of 0 kB, so I am thinking it just went "poof" However a new preferences.xml is in the folder, and no error when opening Inkscape. Good to go for now.

Please only post in one forum. If you're hoping for multiple ways to solve a problem, you can ask for that, in one forum, and we're very happy to do that. But it wastes our time to answer the same question in different forums.

I apologize, I wasn't aware these two forums were connected, to be clear I asked on the community first, then receiving no replies there I posted on the inkscape forum.

I am not a participant at the other forum, *because* it is not connected.
