dont want to add line widths to dimensions of things.. help?

Postby Jamwaffles » Sun Apr 19, 2009 5:53 am

hi all,

I am making an overlay to glue on to a piece of wood for cutting and drilling. i would like to be able to make the lines outlining the dimension centered on the actual dimension 'line', with their width not adding anything extra to the dimensions of the (for example) rectangle. Any help would be much appreciated, if anyone understands me :P

regards

james

Indeed, I'm not fully sure that I've understood your question correctly. In the preferences you'll find an option (under "tools") to use the geometric bounding box instead of the visual bounding box. That might be useful, in case you hadn't found that option yet

It's been requested several times that I know of in these forums, a new feature which allows the user to choose whether they want their stroke to be centered on the path, or aligned to one side or the other. I don't think such a feature has yet been added to the dev version, but you could search Launchpad for details, if you're interested.

Does the SVG standard allow such a thing at all?

I don't know, maybe that's why it hasn't been added. There are fairly full discussions in other topic threads, I was just too lazy to look up and link to them. Here's one: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1669&p=8619&hilit=stroke+align#p8619
