Question about undoing

Postby LJP230 » Mon Apr 06, 2015 8:13 am

Hello all.

I was wondering if you could do Action A, Action B, then undo Action A without undoing Action B. Is this possible to do in Inkscape or not?

No, not with Inkscape. But if we knew more about the specific situation, we might be able to suggest a solution.

Wondering how it would be possible in any drawing program.
For example in action A, you create a new object; in action B, you modify it.
Should you have a modified object that hasn't been created after undoing action A?

Probably there is another solution for the problem you try to answer with this history mix.

Hah! You may find, if you're still sorting through old topics, where I asked the same question, several years ago. I think it's a reasonable question for a newbie. And even now, I can see where with certain actions, it should be possible. But writing a tool that will allow certain things to undo at any time and others that can only undo in sequence, and "the wisdom to know the difference", well that would be a huge headache, if not impossible. But I've learned many tricks since then, and guess we can probably achieve what is needed, if we just have more details.

Anyway, I think we all know what the op is going through. And probably, there is a way to do what they want. We just need more info :D

Got through about 1/10 of the posts but haven't go further for some days now.
