Announcing first *official* forum

Postby Lazur URH » Fri Aug 02, 2019 5:59 am

What a time to be alive.

As of today, the inkscape board opened their own hosted, freshly created forum for all of inkscape.org members.
It is available here.

Not that it's a big surprise though, if you remember it was already announced in last December.

Offtopic:
We all like achievements and progression but maybe it worth digging up some oldies.
This forum started somewhere around in June of 2007.
After a lack of administration and forum updates here, inkscape community was announced -back in the summer of 2013.
Today that forum is closed for new registrations, everyone is directed to the official forum.
Wondering what will happen in the summer of 2025.

On an unrelated note,
blender released the stabile version of 2.8 today as well for downloading.
With a completely new interface, no more blender render engine but eevee instead. Huge progress in becoming the industry standard.

Maybe this year we can expect inkscape 1.0?

I hope so. I want to give a talk about it in September...

I just saw a screenshot of the header, "Talk Freely!" OMG that is so funny...

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed... I'm not finding basic features at the new forum:
No clear way to embed attached images inline.
No clear way to hotlink gifs from dropbox.*
No clear way to delete a post.

*Workaround using YT embed widget.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Tylerdurden! "I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed..." seriously? That's going well beyond being just modest. You're one of the most ingenious members here.

tylerdurden, best to post that in the new forum, if you have a hope to get these things either fixed, added, or explained, depending on the issue.

To my understanding, this forum is in a trial period (of unknown length). If a majority of members don't like it, it should be possible to install a full-featured forum software. But if no one ever speaks up, well....
