Image problem on Mac - Snow Leopard

Postby Guest » Thu Oct 08, 2009 8:30 pm

Hi All,

I am a long time user of Inkscape and loving it. I used to work on Linux, but about a year ago I started using Inkscape on Mac instead. I was pleased to see it worked very nicely on Mac as well.

But now, after upgrading to 10.6 Snow Leopard, I have trouble with Images. When I load my old SVG files, images has been replaced by a low-res "Linked image not found" image instead. When I try to import a new image (Targa format) into inkscape, it says it can't read the file.

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I had to install Inkscape again to make it run. I installed the latest: V0.47pre3.

Maybe I need some extra package to install? Please help me! I have lots to get done!! ;)

Best Wishes,
Niels KM

Hi! It's me again.

I just discovered importing JPGs or PNGs works. With alpha too. So I'll just change my images to png...

Best,

If previous versions of Inkscape (0.46 ?) could read TARGA image files but 0.47pre3 cannot - please file a bug - maybe this can be solved by including the needed libraries (if available) when compiling and packaging Inkscape for OS X. But the developers and package maintainers need to know about it ;-)

On second thought - you did verify that it is not only due to a changed path name? Like for example relocating the SVG document or its linked bitmaps? The internal xlink:href notation now stores the absolute path name of the 'imported' i.e. linked image - I am not sure how Inkscape 0.46 handled it.

Hi again!

You are absolutely right. I checked by resetting the link back to my targa file and it worked. Which means to me that it MUST have been the path that needed updating.

Thanks for a great and very useful piece of software.
