I am cuting pics from inkscape to a roland sv 12 but it seems to be cutting the same image over itself again and again!! Does anyone know why?
Also is it possible to rotate a pic 90 degrees and still cut it with a cutter?
Thanx
cutting multiple images
Re: cutting multiple images
Hi again hardworkingmom,
You may remember that I'm not very knowledgeable about these cutting machines, but if the problem is in Inkscape, we can hopefully help you find a solution. I think in this case, we need some more info.
When the Roland machine is cutting the same image over and over, what is it that you're trying to do? Have you sent a new image to be cut, but it is cutting the last image that you cut instead of the new one? Or do you have several objects to be cut in the same image, but it's only cutting one of them time and again? If neither of those are the problem, would you please describe what's happening with as much detail as possible?
I don't know about rotating the image. The only experience I have with that is yours, and your past experience is that changing the orientation seems to be a problem, if I recall correctly. But this is a relatively new forum, and I expect it will grow, as the use of these cutting machines becomes more popular. So someone may come along with the answer, even weeks from now. So just keep checking back
To me, it doesn't seem like it should cause a problem, but again, my lack of experience, I'm just not sure.
But as for the main problem, if you could give us more detials, we can better address the issue

Re: cutting multiple images
If you could show us an SVG file that exhibits this problem it might help us work out what is going wrong.

Re: cutting multiple images
I have attached a png of the pic I am trying to cut, as I cannot upload an svg file here. There are a number of pics on a single page, three of these and two copies of another pic. It cuts just fine, but when it's finished it feeds the paper back to the start and starts cutting these images over again spoiling them and making them unusable, the second time around it also seems to add in some lines, when it is just meant to be moving to a new starting point it seems to be leaving the cutting point down instead of lifting up.
Thanx for your input.

I would need to see the SVG file though - I can't deduce anything from a PNG.
One possibility is that some of your lines have a fill as well as a stroke. Even if the fill is completely transparent, its outline may still be sent to the cutter as a separate path (since the software driving the cutter probably ignores colours and opacity).

inkscape cuts this image repeatedly
This post was originally started in inkscape and cutters but it will not allow me to upload an svg file there.
Inkscape keeps cutting this file more than once on top of each other when sent to the cutter, spoiling the original. Please help

Re: cutting multiple images
Have started a new topic in help with inkscape as I cannot upload an svg file here. Don't know how to link them.
Thanx for your input so far.

Re: cutting multiple images
Is it just the striped fish that get cut twice? If so, I think the problem is as I suggested above - some of the paths have a white fill.
If you select one of these fish, you will see that the fill is indicated with a white bar at the bottom left of the window. Right-click on the white bar and choose "Remove fill" to remove the fill. This should cause the white bar to be replaced by the word "None". After you've done this to both of the striped fish, the file will hopefully cut correctly.

I have corrected the permissions to allow attachments and merged the topic together.
