Newbie - Inkscape not printing entire image
Newbie - Inkscape not printing entire image
New to Inkscape, but I already love the program! I need some help from more experienced users. I have created a couple of images using my tablet and I've brought the images in to Inkscape and combined them with some circles and text for a complete image. The problem is, when I go to print the entire image (circles, text, drawn images, etc.), Everything prints except a portion on one of the images. It's like it is being cut off when printed. The circle below prints, and the other image prints fine, it's just a small portion of the second image that doesn't print. What else is unique is I can save it as a .png or .pdf and the entire image is there. It is only an issue when printing. Anyone have any ideas or advice to help? It would be greatly appreciated.

Hi.
Inkscape renderer have issues alike with complex designs.
With the save as png you will get a fixed 72 dpi resolution copyof your drawing, so better avoid that.
There is the export raster image function where you can set the desired image dimensions
-but if printing from svg produced such result, probably a higher resolution png would too.
For most cases it is better to print from a pdf.

Agree, when sending to printers and cutters, it is often better to save a PDF copy and print or cut from that.
Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Re: Newbie - Inkscape not printing entire image
Thanks for help. I'm also having an issue with saving the my image as a PDF. It seems no matter what size I make the document properties, when I save the image to a PDF it saves it to some random size? In other words, I can have the document properties set to 8.5 X 11 but the PDF size will be 19.34 X 12.64 (or some other random size)? Any ideas as how to have the image as a 8.5 X 11 and the PDF be the same size?
Re: Newbie - Inkscape not printing entire image
Probably you ticked in the "export area is drawing" instead of the "export area is the page" at the export options, and you had some object crossing the page borders.
So choose the "export area is page" option.

Lazur URH, thanks for the help. You are correct. It now will export at the correct size.
However, it still will not export correctly. As mentioned, I have inserted two images that a created with my tablet. The images are layered upon one another, but they are not separate layers. When I export, the bottom image is visible, but the top image does not export. It exports everything except the top image. This is driving me crazy. Is there any reason why this would be happening? I have reloaded the image in separate formats but it still won't do it. I'm at a loss on this one. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Are there any filters on the top image? If so, try a test without filters.

Don't know what exactly do you mean by image combining.
So a small thing to make sure before: are both images embedded and not linked?

Re: Newbie - Inkscape not printing entire image
I checked and there are no filters on the top image. I used the "delete" filters option to delete them if there were any.
Combining images means I'm overlaying one image partially on top of another. When I export or print, the top image is missing but the bottom image is visible. May layout is bottom image, top image partially covering the bottom image, top text partially covering the top image. When I save or print, only the bottom image and the text is visible.
Oh, the images are embedded and not linked.
Thank you for all of your help.

That's weird.
It should work as you described.
Can we have a look at the problematic svg?
