Pattern Along Path (helmet)

Postby jujubean » Sat Feb 22, 2014 7:02 pm

Hello all. First time looking for help like this. I usually find the answer by searching the forum, but no such luck this time. I am making a helmet for a model. I have made 5 paths that wrap around it tightly. Now the challenge is how to get a pattern effect to run across all 5 paths so when in reaches the edge of one, it will continue across the others. I hope this is a clear enough explanation. Thanks in advance to all.

Hi.

Combine the paths (Ctrl+K), and use the node editor tool to connect unconnected segments/merge double nodes,
then apply the pattern along path live path effect to make the pattern stretch from one segment to another.

Sharp corners and curves with small radius won't look clean, thus you may add many nodes to the basic path, and possibly will need to convert the resulting effect to a path (Ctrl+Shift+C) if it was a live effect and edit it further on manually.
