Moving the toolbars

Postby Oldcodger » Mon Mar 07, 2011 1:20 am

Sorry if this has been asked before. I have just installed the latest .48 version of Inkscape having previously had .47.
I don't really like the toolbars down the right hand edge of the new version, my own preference is to have them along the top, but so far have not been able to find a way to shift them. Can this be done and if so how. Thanks in advance for any help given.

You can choose between three predefined layouts listed at the bottom of the 'View' menu:
  • Default (Commands Bar and Tool Controls Bar at the top, Snap Controls Bar vertically at the right)
  • Custom (all three toolbars horizontally at the top)
  • Wide (Tool Controls Bar at the top, Commands Bar and Snap Controls Bar vertically at the right)
The current status is the initial implementation of an Adaptive UI as briefly described in the release notes of Inkscape 0.48. It detects the proportions of your monitor and chooses between 'Default' and 'Wide' layout as initial setting. Any later changes will be remembered between session.

Thanks very much suv for your reply. That helped enormously. Now I can get my layout the way I like it.
