Hi!
I have a question.
I have some data that i want to present in pie charts. I made them in excel and exported them to pdf to be able to import them in Inkscape. Everything works like a charm!
But! I also want to place labels around the pie charts. They will consist of numbers, one or two digits. Each of these numbers is an object. The pie chart is also an object. What I would like to find is an easy way to place these digits in a uniform way around the pie charts!
Each number should be place equally far from the center of the pie chart. It should also be centered in respect to the piece of the pie chart that is representing it!
I can of course do this by hand. But there must be a way to position it using [length from center] and [angle in radians from a default position]?
Thanks in advance!
Placing numbers around a circle in a uniform way!
Re: Placing numbers around a circle in a uniform way!
Not sure this is the cleanest or fastest way, but you can try the polar grid extension.
Extensions>Render>Polar Grid. Select the Circumferential Labels Degrees option. This places numbers in the way you want around the perimeter of a circle. Default is every 15 degrees. Just make the radius of your grid the same as your pie chart and adjust the divisions to get the placement you like. When rendered the grid and labels will be a group of objects. Ungroup and delete the grid (leaving the labels). Select the labels, group them and center them on your pie chart. Note that the labels are text objects and can then be edited to whatever your desired label is.
