Change window background, not document background

Postby N8e » Fri Sep 12, 2008 12:12 am

Hello,

Is there any way to change the background color in inkscape without this affecting my final result when i export it as bitmaps?

My problem is that i'm working on a set of icons that are mainly white and shades of light grey. These are difficult to see on the default white background, so i tried changing the background in document properties, but when i export it takes that as the background color. Is there any way i can specify a background color for the windows, but not the documents? Default is set to white with full transparency, so i'm hoping that there may be a setting for the window background somewhere?

Thanks,
Kristof

What I do in that situation is set the background to whichever colour is easiest to work to and just before exporting the image I go to properties and set the background colour to have an opacity of zero.
You could also try selecting the objects that make up your image and export them rather than the entire document.

the first one is close to what i do now.. i draw a black rectangle which i place behind the icons and delete before exporting them.
The second solution doesn't work, tried it, but the background color shows up in the bitmap.
