All,
I just wanted to announce that I've thrown together a script that takes an Inkscape .svg and generates pdfs corresponding to each layer as well as a .tex file that includes each pdf as part of a beamer overlay. Additionally, I've made it so the script will optionally use manually-defined overlay specifications given in the layer names inside the inkscape .svg.

Inkscape + LaTeX Beamer
Re: Inkscape + LaTeX Beamer
Welcome to InkscapeForum!
Wow, this sounds like it will be very useful. We do get requests here for this kind of feature, so I'll be glad to be able to refer folks to it.
I just wanted to note that I'm moving this topic to the Inkscape Resources forum, so that it will appear in both places.
