Hi all! I'm a new Inkscape user, and I've run into a functionality question:
Is it possible to set stroke attributes (e.g: width, color) to the pencil tool before drawing a line to create an object? I understand how to access the fill and stroke control window, and I can edit fill and stroke attributes for objects that I've already created, but all the options are grayed out when I select the pencil tool to start drawing a new line. I've yet to be able to find tool controls for the pencil tool that allow me to preset stroke values, aside from the option in preferences to allow it to adhere to the style most previously set to an object.
I'd really appreciate if someone might point me in the right direction, here...
Thanks a ton!

*bump*
Anyone? I feel like this is something relatively simple that I'm just glazing over. It may be a stupid question, but I'd still really appreciate any insight!

Re: Tool Controls and Pencil Tool
I suspect we're all waiting for someone else to tell you how to do it, as we don't know ourselves.
Essentially, I don't think it's possible; you've got to draw, then set stroke/fill afterwards. Which seems backwards, but you get used to it.
I believe there are plans for a style palette in a future version that should help with this.
