Zoom/Resize problems in Vista

Postby Malisteen » Wed Jun 17, 2009 7:38 am

I recently downloaded Inkscape 4.6 for use on my home PC - an HP machine running on Vista. I've been running into a couple annoying and possibly unrelated problems.

1) I cannot re-size the Inkscape window vertically. When I click on the top of the window to try and re-scale it, the entire window just shifts down away from the mouse. At my usual resolution, the window is taller then my screen, preventing me from using the program if the window isn't maximized.

2) The program won't let me use the zoom tool. When I click on the tool, it doesn't activate, and the options for it don't appear on the top bar. This problem occurs whether the Inkscape window is maximized or not, and whether I have a file open or not. If I double click, it brings up a prompt with some options for the zoom tool, but Inkscape itself still doesn't recognize that I'm trying to use it.

Other then that, it's just been generally somewhat buggy. Sometimes when I click on a tool the window seems to freeze until I minimize and restore it. That kind of thing.

I have already tried deleting the preferences, and uninstalling and reinstalling the program, but the problems persist. Any suggestions? Other then getting rid of Vista? (Oy, I hate vista. One of these days....)

Thanks for any help! :)

I had ran Inkscape on Vista for a long time without an issue, so I can assure you that it's not a fault with Vista.

Having said that, if you've deleted your preference file then I'm out of ideas already. I would do it again just to be sure. Then I would start to suspect if something else on your PC is interfering--but that's a desperate suspicion.
