How to Use Background Only
How to Use Background Only
Hi everyone, I need advise on how I can use an image's background and remove all the texts and other pictures. I have a background that has texts and a face; I want to remove the text and the face and replace it with my own texts. Thank you.

Welcome to InkscapeForum!
If the image is in a vector file, and all the contents that you need to change are vector objects, you can do this with Inkscape. But if any of the objects are raster, or the entire image is raster, you'll probably need to use a raster editor (such at The GIMP).
Depending on the quality of the image, it might be possible to convert the image to vector, and then make the changes. But the description so far doesn't sound like it would lend itself to trace engines (such as Inkscape's Trace Bitmap). If you could show us the image, we might get a better idea if Inkscape can be used for this.

Re: How to Use Background Only
The picture I am using is the Wanted poster in the Puss in Boots movie. My son is celebrating his first birthday and I will use the wanted poster as an invitation. I'd like to change the texts into my son's name and party details such as date venue, etc... I also want to change Puss in Boots' face into my son's picture--I need to convert my son's face into a sketch...

Re: How to Use Background Only
Thank you! I'll do that. It may take me a while since I am fairly new to graphic arts. I'll post a the result once I am done. Thank you for the support.
Re: How to Use Background Only
This is exactly what I am looking for! So far I have succeeded in removing the objects from the scroll. I am still figuring out how to get the font style and texture of Puss in Boots for the scroll (either in GIMP or Inkscape). The closet I got to the font style is using Briolin.
Re: How to Use Background Only
BTW, can you share how you turned the image with diagonal lines and colored it brown? The FILL function does not seem to work and I have experimented with the Newsprint but I cannot get the same effect. Thank you.
