I've just downloaded and installed the new v 0.46, but unfortunately, something is very wrong. I'm hoping ye wise folk can help me. Here's what's happening.
When I 1st open 0.46, the window is the Restored size, and extends below the screen border at the bottom. The last thing I can see is about half the eyedropper tool. When I try to resize it, I position the mouse pointer over the top border to produce the 2-sided arrow which is normally used to resize windows. But when I click, the entire window shifts down farther, with maybe 1/4th of the window off the screen. If I do this repeatedly, only the titlebar is visible at the bottom of the screen. I can get over this problem though, by simply maxing the window. But there's more.
The 1st thing I notice is a different color palette than what I had created and was using in my older version. It's got a few blocks of black, white and shades of gray, on the left inch or so, and the rest is all blue. I tried to use the palette's scrollbar, just curious about this default palette, but the palette's scrollbar doesn't work. Then I tried clicking the right-pointing arrow, and that does reveal the previously out-of-view area. But the left-pointing arrow is grayed out, so I can't return the palette to its default position. I could get over this by not using a palette, but I really like using palettes.
About that time I notice that the tooltips which have popped up as my mouse moves around, don't go away. No matter how many tooltips pop up, they never go away, and pretty soon, the window is littered with tooltips. Some overlap others, to the point where the window is a patchwork of tooltips. I can't get over this problem. (Btw, the tooltips are black text on yellow/gold, instead of my normal display scheme.)
Then I think I'll look at the menus, thinking maybe there's some setting I can change to fix these things. But then once displayed, the menus don't go away when the mouse moves away from them. Then I have all the menus displayed at once, overlapping each other, and together with all the tooltips, there is precious little territory left for an image, should I try to make one.
So at this point, I shudder to wonder what else might be wrong!
I'm guessing my 1st move should be to uninstall it and reinstall it. Although I will wait for any comments which might be posted here. Maybe there really IS a setting I can tweak?
Helpful info -- Windows XP Home, using 800 x 600 screen resolution
I've opened it by double-clicking the desktop icon, as well as by opening an image directly, a .svg image, and all the problems are the same, either way.
The only other info I might add, is that when I installed it, I deselected all the translation languages (except English, which can't be deselected). This saves many MB disk space, which is why I did it, plus I don't speak or use any other language anyway. Could this have caused these problems? I wouldn't think so, but it's worth mentioning.
Is there anything I should know before I try reinstalling? Have any of these problems been reported by others, elsewhere (mailing lists). Does anyone have a guess as to what has caused this?
Thank you very much for your help
