Inkscape 0.47, Windows XP. When I create anything (polygon, text etc.) I instinctively want to immediately change colour (or other symbology) to the next item to be drawn. Unfortunately Inkscape will still have the previous item selected - which now picks up the attributes I hadn't wanted for the next item to be drawn.
Is there any way to change this behaviour to one where the just-created item doesn't remain selected? I've been through the settings several times, and I can't see it anywhere.
cheers
Auto de-select of items on creation?
Re: Auto de-select of items on creation?
Calligraphy tool has a setting in Inkscape preferences to Select the new path, but for other tools you have to hit Esc to deselect an object, choose the colors and stroke width of the next object and create it.

OK, that's discouraging, but thanks for the information.
