Menubar Problem on Ubuntu 13.10
I tried taking a screenshot but it kept closing the menubar so I used record-my-desktop and that's the best result I got.
Anyway some of the text is empty in the menubar and others have some weird characters, and other times it doesn't show anything. I uninstalled it and reinstalled and it still exists.
Anyway to solve this problem?

I don't have an answer for the specific issue you're seeing with the menus, but I would start by disabling the Ubuntu global menu and see if the problem still persists (Googling for "ubuntu disable global menu 13.10" yields plenty of results). That might help to indicate whether the problem is the global menu or something about your Inkscape installation.
As for the screenshot, when I need to grab an image that includes menus I just use The Gimp. In the File > Create > Screenshot dialog there's an option to add a delay before grabbing the image. Set that to 5 or 10 seconds and make sure it's taking a screenshot of the entire screen. Click the Snap button, then navigate to your menu and just leave it open until the delay finishes and the screenshot is taken.

same issue over here with Ubuntu 14.04 beta 2
doesn't seem to change when switching between Ubuntu's "show in menu bar" vs "show in window title bar"
