Twenty Twelve

Postby LiquidAsh » Fri Apr 06, 2012 9:27 am

I recently started soliciting feedback on a puzzle game that I've been using Inkscape to develop: http://sugarpillstudios.com/twentytwelve/. In addition to using inkscape for the artwork, I've also been using it as a level editor (managing collision bounds, object attributes, code bindings, etc). I'm very interested in hearing what you think. The game does use Silverlight 5's hardware acceleration, so it probably won't run on Macs, or very old graphics cards :(. Here's a quick sample that I threw together for Easter:Image

Hhmm, I tried to play but it told me that I don't have a current version of Silverlight. I was given an option to install the latest version, but when I followed that link, I saw this message:

I did not click the "Let us know" link to report it, because I thought I should let you know first.

My version is 4.1.10111.0. It may or may not be current. (I don't have automatic updates enabled, but instead, automatice download, and let me decide when to install. I might have gotten an update recently but declined to install at that time.) But the message on the Silverlight page says I was trying to get an earlier (beta) version.

Looking forward to trying it out :D

Edit
I found the current version and am downloading now. I should be able to try the game shortly :D

It's an interesting game, and great Inkscape graphics!
I would enjoy it a lot more if I could get past the 4th room :( I assume there's a solution? Or is this as far as the game goes at this time?

Thanks for giving it a try brynn. And I apologize for the Silverlight trouble... it's frustrating that the process doesn't run more smoothly. There are currently eight levels available, and the last four will be replaced by eight different levels on Easter morning. I'll send you a private email with some hints about the fourth level. Best, Gary.

As a quick update, the first 16 levels of Twenty Twelve are available free to play at http://sugarpillstudios.com/twentytwelve/. There is also a video trailer available at http://youtu.be/F7EjhqvyiFs. I'm also shooting for a full release in July on XBox360 and Windows7Phone.

Hi LiquidAsh,
I am also planning to use inkscape as a level editor for a simple jump&run game. The document only contains referenced images.I have programmed everything expect the positions. Can you please send me some code or info on how to get the pixel position from the xml file? it is really a mess. e.g. I don't know how to get the documents height.
Thanks!
