I'v created an album cover and saved it, but if I want to upload that cover to my bands facebook page or uploaded it to photobucket it wont reconise the file type,
What should I be saving it under?

Most social media sites do not handle SVG files. Use: File -> Export Bitmap... to export it as a PNG file.

Export to bitmap for web use.
For facebook images look up the actual dimensions of the displayed image.
If you want to create a profile image/header, if the image you want to use doesn't have the right size, it will get jpg compressed and cut off,
resulting in a blurred mess.
