[solved] how join 2 curves

Postby julo » Thu Oct 30, 2008 3:19 am

Hello, I´m only starting with Inkscape, then I need help, please. I want to join 2 curves, but I don´t check 2 endnodes from 2 curves together for "Join selected endnodes". How can I do it?

Hi julo,
I'm not sure I understand your question, but I'll try to answer anyway. Are you saying that you are unable to select the endnodes of the 2 curves that you want to join together?

If that's your problem, there might be a few different situations that could possibly cause this problem. It may be that the 2 curves have not been combined (Path menu > Combine). Or it may be that thay are on different layers. Or it may be that they are in different groups.

You're correct, you can only join endnodes on the same curve or path. However, combining the 2 curves will make them all the same path (even if they are not connected).

Have you found the tutorials and Guides in the Help menu? They are all great resources where you can turn for help.

I'm going to stop there, until I'm sure I understand your problem.

Look in the Inkscape Resources forum. There are some translations of some Guides, although I don't know exactly what's available at the moment. Maybe you'll be lucky

It's funny, I have the same problem - just working with "A Can of Soup" tutorial (v.0.46 under Linux). I *have* combined top and bottom half-ellipses (bounding rectangle includes both ones) and try to join them selecting appropriate nodes at top and bottom parts, but at join command I see a meassage I must select two endnodes.

Where to dig in?

Thanks! It's pleasure to see the community is as friendly as Inkscape is :D - I get some kind of aesthetic satisfaction during learning the app!
