Can't make the most simple thing work.
Can't make the most simple thing work.
When I save a file (text on top of a basic photo) in Inkscape as a .svg Then I try to move it to Gimp to allow me to save it as a JPEG....the text is huge and deformed. Please help.
Re: Can't make the most simple thing work.
When you first open a new Inkscape document (unless you have made a custom default doc) it opens at 35% zoom. So if you first created your text at 35% zoom, and never changed the zoom, then when you open it in GIMP, which I guess opens docs at 100%, it looks huge.
While I might have guessed the problem with the text size, I'm not sure about the text being deformed. Can you show us what it looks like, so we might have some clue where to start troubleshooting?
Or alternate idea -- I think GIMP has a text tool. Is there some reason why you need to use Inkscape?

OK thanks. Can someone also tell me how to find a quick guide in order to choose fonts? Glyps?
Re: Can't make the most simple thing work.
I'm not sure what you're asking. There are bazillions of websites on the internet, where you can find fonts that you can download (some free, some cost money). To make them available for Inkscape to use, you just have to install them on your system.
I think you might be asking for something like Windows' Character Map. If you're on Windows, go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map. I use it so often, I actually made a shortcut to it on my desktop. To do that, right-click on "Character Map" then find Send To and click on "Desktop (create shortcut)". Then look at your desktop to find the new shortcut icon.
I don't know where to find it on other systems, but I'm pretty sure that Linux and Mac (OS X) varieties have something like that.
