Create Square Transparrent PNG

Postby mike-future-back » Thu Feb 06, 2014 1:56 pm

Hi

Please forgive my level of knowledge. I am a complete novice with inkscape! I'd like to create a simple rectangle that looks like the selection view you get by looking through a digital camera or prob better described as almost exactly the same as a tagging tool used in some social media programs to tag a photo.

So, I'd like it to be an outline of a square, in white and to be a transaprant png.

I'm imagining this is really so simple to do but I've tried with no luck yet. Help!

Thanks!

Hi.

Press F4 for the rectangle tool, click on the canvas somewhere, pull the cursor and release to set two corners of the rectangle facing each other.
Press Shift+Ctrl+F to bring up the fill and stroke panel, and set
no fill, white for stroke colour with 255 alpha value, and integer pixel value for the width, and miter join style.

Press F1 for the object select tool, disable proportional scaling of the strokes by clicking on it's icon in the tool settings and type in integer values for the size into the boxes left to the icon.
Then, open the document's properties tab (Shift+Ctrl+D) and set page borders around selection,
then export raster image at 90 dpi (Shift+Ctrl+E).
