failed to execute child process "gimp"

Postby supersonic » Sun Apr 11, 2010 11:58 pm

Hello

I get that error in inkscape when trying to edit an image externally

failed to execute child process "gimp" (no such file or directory)

Any ideas on how to edit the preferences file in mac os x so that I can fix that?
In the preferences dialog there is no way to indicate the gimp location. There is just a list of a couple of programs to choose from.

Thank you for your help

Warm regards

Kris

You can't "fix" it by editing the Inkscape preferences file: Inkscape looks for an executable named 'gimp' in its $PATH - unless you have installed the command line version of GIMP or know how to create a wrapper script for the gimp-2.6 binary (*) that is part of the application bundle of GIMP on OS X (which, I guess, you have installed and expect Inkscape to launch with the linked bitmap image), the command 'Edit Externally…' doesn't work on Mac OS X. AFAIK it doesn't work on Windows either.
