I'm a noob to not only this software but of this whole graphic design field. However, that's besides the point. I have a problem tracing an imported text or word correctly.
Here are my steps:
1.Open paint, type in "text" and save to bmp.
2. Open Inkscape, import that ""text"" bmp in.
3.Click on trace bitmap and deselect smooth corners and optimize path{which both seem to hinder the image}; I then keep the brightness threshold at default, click preview, and okay.
4. Select my new ""text" and drag to open space.

And here is my result:

So as you can see, the nodes are a bit off. Why is it that this guy gets such a perfect image on default settings and how do I fix this?I've asked several people and searched quite a bit, and people have never seen this, help if you can. -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-xxhphybnE

What is the size of your "TEXT", i.e. height in pixels in your bitmap? What is the font?
I do not know the internal details about Inkscape's algorithm to trace bitmaps, but if your text is just a few pixels high I would expect some "unprecise" edges.
In the video the height of "TEXT" is 153px. And with this I also get a good result.

I've tried different fonts and different sizes for the fonts, and I get the same result. I do font size 36 in Calibri and save as bmp with the background at 288x173. Is it possibly this background size? So, you tried it at 153, and it worked?

So the only surefire way Im getting no errors is when I make the lettering bold. odd.

Could you post/attach the BMP with which you have difficulties?

Just curious why not creating a text object in inkscape.

I"m kinda obsessed about doing it after seeing that tutorial. The only thing I've been working on is trying to perfect the trace on texts from an outside source.
