V0.48 Importing transparent bitmap

Can anyone tell me how to get a transparent bitmap imported? File Import of PNG or GIF having white and transparent areas just creates an object that is solid white.

Working fine for me with a png (but I'm working with a dev version)

upload a svg sample.

Vince, apologies. I find the PNG and GIF were faulty - Paint Shop Pro 6 had omitted the transparency. Thanks.
