Inkscape has vanished

Postby Guillaume » Wed May 30, 2018 9:43 am

I downloaded Inkscape beginning of April. It is in taskbar and start collection. I have used it until today with no problems. But, it fails to appear in the file explorer as well as the control panel. I do a search with Cortana and it comes up only with Internet addresses, nothing local. So I have Inkscape in my system but I can't find it (even though I am able to use it). Does anyone have an idea about this perplexing situation? (I discovered this anomaly as I looked for ways to enlarge the canvas.))

If you installed in a traditional manor, you should fine inkscape.exe in c\program files\inkscape. Double clicking that will start it. You can make a shortcut to it anywhere you wish. If you installed via the Windows Store, I have no clue where that monstrosity puts it. You mention Cortana so I am assuming Windows. Just download again and install again. It won't hurt anything.

Before any reinstall on Windows, do an uninstall - else it may hurt a lot.

I downloaded Inkscape again and installed it in a directory to be sure. Even though I am the administrator of my computer I was not authorized to save in Program Files (!). I installed it in the folder recommended by the system (my name folder), copied and pasted it in Program Files with no problem. Thanks for answering.
