Text and mirror object

Postby geoff0797 » Tue Feb 05, 2019 3:35 am

Hello,

I have a problem with bending a text with an object (function "put a text on the way").
I duplicated an object and then mirrored it to have two identical and symmetrical objects. Everything works well to put the text on the first object. But for the second object, the text takes the form of the initial object and not the mirror object. So, I'm stuck to put the text on the second object. Please, help me !

Sorry for my English, I'm French.

I would try putting text on a path and then group them both... then clone the group and flip it with the select-tool controls.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

It looks like the 'mirror' transformation hasn't been applied to the path coordinates, but is only there as an instruction for the program to mirror the path. Have you mirrored a group, instead of just the path, maybe?

Or are you using the mirror LPE?

Best to share the file, so we can see how to best remove the transform from the mirrored path.

Here's one way for text "Put on path":

Yeah, but that mirrors the text. I didn't get the impression that was what the user wanted.

I'm not clear if you used Flip Horizontal or Flip Vertical, or Mirror LPE. Hhmm, using Mirror LPE, the mirror path is added to the original path, so you can't apply the text to it separately. So you must have used Flip Horizontal?

For Flip Horizontal, you can do Path menu > Reverse, on the mirror path. The text will flip around.
