Layered Vector White Space Won't Go Away

Postby Lorddofthecastle » Wed Dec 18, 2013 5:11 am

Hello everyone!

I'm new to InkScape and I've been having some issues cutting out a vector that I got from an online raster-to-vector website.

I successfully cut out most of the white space and began testing colors on a layer beneath the black outlines of the vector. However, some of the white is staying:

When I try to erase the white part of her shoulder (or any of the white for that matter) this is what happens:

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, and it's stopping my progress in its tracks :( Can anyone help me out? Thanks! :D

Welcome aboard!

It's hard to tell from that single look.

Use the node editor tool to click on the problematic parts if possible.
When the path is selected, change to the object select tool.
Keep an eye on the indicator line at the bottom of the window when an object is selected.

Change view to outlines only and see if there is a raster image part or not.

Is the original file a pdf?
