Login failed and captcha was annoying

Postby nihon94 » Tue Jul 31, 2012 3:42 am

Something went wrong when I want to login and I was told to write text "captcha" (as well as user name and password)
I tried to read the text which was like written on bibulous paper. I tried to listen and it was in Alien language therefore, I gave up and paid attention in reading text.

I wonder if any one ever bother to check those things too?

I know I will sound like noisy but please check yourself.
Thank you

Oh, I know exactly what you mean -- those captchas are so darn annoying! I can never read them. It seems that some are better than others, in terms of readability. But I always have to load many different views until I find one that I can read well enough. Even in the best case, I usually have to try 2 or 3 times  It probably won't make you feel any better, but the one that this site uses, is one of the easier ones to read, that I've seen!

And yes, I've tried listening to them too. That is even worse, and as far as I'm concerned, understanding them by listening is literally impossible.

But the good news is that I get bumped out only very rarely, in this forum. Honestly, I don't know how it happens. I never log out on purpose. But every now and then, I use my regular bookmark, only to find that I was somehow logged out.

So anyway, hopefully you won't get logged out very often. And you're certainly not alone :D

I appreciate your frustration. I wonder if I must be a bot when I can't decipher a CAPTCHA.

Unfortunately, though, CAPTCHAs are a necessary evil. Without a CAPTCHA on the registration page, this forum would fall to pieces due to an uncontrollable amount of spam. The the CAPTCHA on signin is there for your protection. It may have triggered because someone as tried multiple times to guess your password. If they do this using a script they can try a lot of combinations very quickly. The CAPTCHA prevents the script from working.

So whilst CAPTCHAs are frustrating, the forum can't exists without it.
