PDF imports with green fills

Postby Jason Nail » Sat Feb 26, 2011 2:43 pm

Hello. I was trying to load a free vector image download (available if necessary) distributed in EPS format (on my MacMiniPPC OSX10.5 running InkScape .48). I simply loaded the EPS file with Preview, which automatically converted it to a PDF file. Preview displayed the image as it should be. But, when loading that file (saved as PDF in Preview) on Inkscape, it comes out with green fills over everything. I tried the 9 quartz filters in Preview's save window (none, b&w, blue tone, create generic pdfx-3 document, gray tone, lightness decrease, lightness increase, reduce file size, & sepia tone) to no avail. Is Preview not saving all the information (in PDF) or is Inkscape unable to read the PDF the same way Preview does? Normally it's not that big a deal. But, if I get this new job, time will be critical, in which case, I would want to be able to handle my formats accurately. Contenta-converter.com has an EPS to SVG converter. Gimparoo explains the manual PNG method. But, I haven't the time nor money to follow those routes. Am I simply a button click away from correcting these green toned PDF's? Thank you very much! Jaso PS Yo, Courtney! I re-found the Alpha slider sandwiched around the background color bar in document properties. I think I am getting blind and senile! LOL

A similar (or the same?) issue had been reported by other PPC users (Tiger only, so far):
The cause is unknown (apparently limited to PPC Macs ?), and since none of the developers works with a PPC Mac (Tiger or Leopard) or has such an infrastructure available for building and testing, this problem is unlikely to get addressed in future versions - it was never reproduced on e.g. Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard (i386) nor reported by users on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
