Greetings, all -
To get right to it, when I save a file as a PDF some objects move or resize. I can offset the objects to compensate but it gets a bit frustrating after a while. I searched the forum and Google but may have been a bit too ambiguous to achieve any good results. I must admit I'm not familiar enough with the PDF file format to really know what technical concept/term to search. If anyone has any suggestions on keeping objects "still" as they're exported I'd appreciate it.
Using Ubuntu 10.04; Inkscape 0.47
Thanks so much!
Saving to PDF moves objects
Re: Saving to PDF moves objects
Can you post an sample SVG file the demonstrates the problem?
Re: Saving to PDF moves objects
save your inkscape work as plain svg, then use scribus to go from .svg to .pdf

I attempted to replicate the issue but had no luck. The original file was a project for a friend (no immediate access at this point) but after a bit of troubleshooting it seems to be an issue with fonts as the PDF was being viewed cross-platform. Where I thought an object was moving in relation to text, it appears that the text had changed font/style (it was such a subtle difference I didn't realize it right-off but it did, indeed, change fonts). The conversion of everything to path proved effective and solved the problem with only minor touch-ups required. Thank you for your reply!

Always excited to learn of new open source design software and this definitely caught my eye! I installed and everything went great and I'm sure it will be used extensively down the road.
Anyway, I have this "luck" about posting in forums - it never fails that as soon as I post something I blindly stumble across the solution/diagnosis..
Thanks so much to everyone!
