Hi,
I am trying to convert my app's icons(all single color) to an icon-font. I saw this tutorial on youtube on how to add glyphs to a new font family.

It is very useful and I get to follow pretty much all of it.

But when I try to make my own for real. I import my existing svg. files to the file,
- made sure they are inside of the canvas
- clicked on Path-> Union (as she mentioned in the tutorial)
Then with one of the glyphs selected in the font editor, I clicked on "Get Curves from Selection", but my font does not show up in the preview text.

I tried the same steps if I create a shape in the same Inkscape file and it was successfully added as a glyph.

Is there any round abouts work needs to be done if the shape is imported from an existing svg. file?

Hello:
Following the links you provided, be aware that this feature it's not fully implementated. Even for using in Inkscape, AFAIK.
Also., I haven't seen the complete video, but I downloaded the SVG template
I've done a quick test, and I haven't explored more. According to my test, your icons must be paths, not groups or special objects, like clones or squares or ellipses, etc. If you try to apply Union to a group, Inkscape will show you a mesage in the bottom of your screen, saying why it wasn't applied.
