Assuming that one doesn't use SVG effects, or Inkscape-specific tools like Blur on an object (Fill/Stroke Palette), are there issues taking a file created in Inkscape into Illustrator?
I've read some comments about files relying heavily on SVG effects, and about adobe's proprietary razor wire around everything.
but, is vector vector? and Gradients?
thanks for any comments, esp from those who actually do/have done this workflow.

Inkscape to Illustrator...issues?

Hi linebender,
You didn't say where you read the comments, but this forum is full of topics regarding AI files -- opening them, mostly. But if you haven't searched here, you can probably find some answers here. Maybe not all of them, but I'm sure helpful ones

the comments I've read were in this forum. I used the search term "illustrator."
perhaps better terms would be more productive?
my goal is to substitute Illustrator as much as possible, especially in work I do for a particular client.
thanks!

Re: Inkscape to Illustrator...issues?
I had a little experience with illustrator and i clearly remember you shouldn't have problems if you use only paths made with the pen tool.
Linear gradients should work fine, i don't remember about the radial ones though...
Also blur and other filters will not work.

OK..that's all good information. for the work I do, I will probably need to stay in Illustrator for this client. I can get by without blur and the other toys, but I have to have radial gradients.
I spoze I could do some experimenting just to make sure for myself.
Thank you, RM
