Clicking the end-node to start a new path connected to last?

Postby BJ111092 » Fri Aug 27, 2010 4:34 am

Hi... I've been fiddling around with Inkscape so that I won't have to try and use Wine to run Macromedia Freehand on my Linux computer. My issue is that I want to be able to draw in almost the same way that I draw using Macromedia Freehand MX '04: By drawing a path with the pen tool. At the end of the first path I draw, the line will be subdivided into two nodes. By clicking the node at the end of the path, the method that Freehand was using to make the curve from two nodes removes the unneeded curvage from the endnode. So, when I make the next point on the path, it starts with a completely fresh point and the line is one-hundred percent straight, while still attached to the path from before. This allows me to make a new line, where I can continue on and on in this method by continuing to click on the endnodes of the most recent point I made. Seeing as this was not listed in the wiki as things that could be done in AI but not in InkScape, I imagine this is somehow doable in InkScape. Can someone explain how to do this using IS? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure I understand you completely, but try drawing nodes by click-and-drag to create curved segments, then hit Shift + L to get the option to create a straight line as the next segment.

To make it curved use Shift + U. Is this what you wanted?
