How draw this simple circle, triangle with inverted colors

Postby centermass » Sun May 11, 2014 11:59 pm

I would like to create a copy of the following using high res vectors but have never used Inkscape before. I am reading some tutorials now but thought I would also post this request.

Example:
Image

The dimensions are:
sheet of paper = 8.5" x 11"
circle = 15 cm
triangle length = 5 cm

To my eye, the triangle is drawn in the rule of thirds of the circle. To finish it off, there appears to be a black rectangle over the the top 2/3s of the circle/triangle as you see with the lines of them inverted. How would I go about creating this in Inkscape?

EDIT: OK! I think I am mostly there using just shape tools and rectangles as guides. How can I finish this with the larger inverted rectangle?

Hi.

Here is a possible way to achieve that look:
Convert the stroke of the circle to a path (Shift+Alt+C),
reverse the triangle's direction (in this case you can simply mirror it),
select all three objects, and combine them together (Ctrl+K)
and set a black fill and no stroke in the fill and stroke panel (Shift+Ctrl+C).

Thanks for the reply... exactly what I wanted!

I imported the original pic and traced on top if it using my three shapes. When I apply your method, I arrived at the attached. Thanks again.
