Combining inkscape files
Re: Combining inkscape files
have one file open (target file)
then open a second file and copy all the objects you want to merge (>Edit >Select All (Ctrl+A))
now paste them into your target file, you may want to add a New Layer (Shift+Ctrl+N) for each file you are copying form..
The 'copy from' file has to remain open while you copy & paste your objects.
when you Paste objects they will centered on the mouse cursors position.

Thank you.
I tried that and it did my job.

You can also drag and drop files into an Inkscape window: open (or create) the "main" document, then drag the others into it, one at a time, positioning them as you do so.

I'd like to thank those for providing this hard to find topic !

Use "Edit->Paste in Place" to position the pasted information in the same location on the page as it was in it's original file. This is useful if you want to exactly merge 2 or more drawings that should line up.
For example, I disliked a change I made to a curve, so I copied an earlier version of the curve from a backup file into my current drawing.
Or I'm separating a drawing onto individual colour files for printing.
