Hi! I'm a little new to Inkscape and the forum so I have a couple of questions.

Firstly, when I create a rectangle with the rectangle tool and try to set a clip from a .png I export, it doesn't seem to work. It shows a blank image. I tried this with the circle tool and it worked just fine. Is there something I'm missing?

And secondly, is it possible to set a clip to a object with a pattern created in the fill and stroke tab?

you can't clip a rectangle with a png but you can mask it.
yes a pattern filled object can be clipped with a shape.
