Hello,
I am just starting to design for an electronic cutter company (Silhouette America). I have followed their directions for saving my SVG file, with a specific pt size (I'm assuming this means stroke size) and line color (stroke color). However, the company states that my designs have no "cut lines". I know the svg has paths that I can import into their program, set the cut style to "cut", and cut myself with my machine. But, the company is not able to see my design's path lines as "cut lines". I have searched and searched for a solution for the problem...perhaps a difference in SVG output?...but I can't find anyone with a similar problem. I know that most designers for the company use Adobe Illustrator. Does anyone out there know how I may be able to fix the way I save SVGs with Inkscape so they will show up as "cut lines" for Silhouette? Any help would be SO appreciated!
"Cut Lines" not Showing
Re: "Cut Lines" not Showing
Hi.
Do you have a link to a file they claim to be faulty for us to examine.
Do you send them SVG files or do you export to DXF format?

No, I can't give you a link to a file. They say that none of my files show "cut lines"...but I don't understand because I've been creating files for well over a year and they all cut just fine. I'm sending SVG files, which they require.

Hi.
Can you make a new 'testfile" and post here then?
What happened just before the files started failing?
Any changes to software on their or your side?
What if you send them a file that has worked in the past. Does it still work?
I would like to compare an "old" (working) and a "new" (nonworking) file.
The best tool to examine SVG files is just a plain texteditor.
Try directing your browser to the file and check if it displays OK on screen, just
type the path and filename where the URL normally goes in your browser,
ie instead of "http:/www.inkscapeforum.com" you type in "c:\my_directory\myfile.svg".
