How may one alter parameters for the inkscape v.048 Spray object tool such that a variably diffuse version of the object is
painted, like an uber spray paint tool?

Well, I thought I'd use this as an opportunity to learn about the new Spray tool. And to be honest, I thought that's exactly what it did. But not, apparently.....

I consulted the tavmjong bah Guide (Help menu > Inkscape Manual), but there's not even a mention of the tool, at least that I found. So 2 possibilities come to mind. 1 - This is an early version of the tool, and more functionality will be added, presumably relatively soon (note that open source projects aren't developed in the same manner as proprietary software -- usually things are developed according to developers' interests, rather than users' interests, although eventually users' interests do become important).
Or 2 - This is a case of a tool being given a confusing name, giving especially new users to the wrong impression. But if this is the case, I'm guessing it will surprise even some seasoned users!

BUT, do wait for some more replies. Perhaps a developer will respond, or at least someone more familiar with the Spray tool than I. A 3rd possibility is that I just haven't figure it out
