I have been trying to round text on a circle but the "put on path" command isn't working. Has anyone else had this problem? If so is there a fix or a workaround?

It's hard to know exactly what might be going wrong. Have you followed the instructions in the manual? Please let us know exactly the steps you are taking. And also, please describe exactly what happens. "isn't working" leads us to think that you click the button and nothing happens. But it could mean all kinds of things really lol. If you do get some kind of results but they don't look right, can you give us a screenshot?

I am having the same problem. It was working a couple weeks ago but now when i hit the put on path command nothing happens at all. Any help is greatly appreciated.

it was working up to recently. Now when i select the object (circle) and the text and hit the text command "put on path", nothing at all happens

Hhhmmmm......I'm not sure what to suggest. Have you converted the text to paths, perhaps?

If that's not it, could you make us a simple file with some text and a path, so that we can try it out? We might not be able to reproduce the problem if it's attributable to something specific to your system or Inkscape prefs. But I can't think of anything else to try.

What's your Inkscape version and operating system (in case it might be a bug)?

running version 0.48.2 I did not convert text to path. I did it the same way as always and just nothing happens. I re started inkscape, removed and downloaded again. Still nothing.

OOOHH! I think I know what the problem might be. Did you say you were putting the text on a circle? If you used the Ellipse tool to make the circle, you need to convert it to a path (Path menu > Object to path). I think it might be failing because the circle isn't a path.

It is not necessary to convert a circle/ellipse to path to be able to 'Put on Path' a text onto the circle: inkscape handles shapes just fine for 'Text > Put on Path'.

Oohh yeah, my bad. I misread the manual. It says that all shape except for Rectangles are described as paths. I thought it said all except for rect are NOT paths.

If the circle/path is a clone, I can't get the text on the path.
