Hi, I am unable to open a file (svg format, 18mb large) in inkscape. I keep getting the error message "this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an usual way..."
Is there another program that can handle svg files of this size? I would like to edit the svg files and then convert them to plt format.
Any help greatly appreciated!
svg file problem - too large
Re: svg file problem - too large
Hi redriding,
I'm not sure why no one has replied. I probably can't help much, but my reply at least will bring your message back to the top of the list.
I'm not very tech oriented. But it's my understanding that the "this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an usual way..." message can be caused by....I'm not sure if "many" is accurate, but certainly a few different things. I'm not sure, but there may be a way to find out more about the "unusual way". Like maybe there's a log somewhere? (Although I don't know what it might be.) It may not be the file size that's causing this crash, and in a file that size, it certainly leaves room for speculation about the cause.
If you have relatively not much memory (RAM) there's a good chance that the file size is the culprit though. These days, 2 MB of RAM is really the low end of "minimal requirements" (although I'm still searching for minimum requirements for running Inkscape). (I know that 2 MB is the low end from personal experience, and from reading the forum.)
But I hope someone else will have some more helpful comments
