Slicing a 2D drawing

Postby i-make-robots » Tue Jul 05, 2016 5:20 am

I have a drawing robot that can do outlines really well: https://www.instagram.com/p/BHafhB8hrBl ... makerobots

I want to fill in so the robot can paint by numbers. I found some help on your forums here: viewtopic.php?t=9803

The process is long, complex, and did not scale well (many horizontal lines would not intersect correctly with height>500px designs).

What I'd love is to select a path, run "fill" extension, tell it my pen tip size, and done. I know the problem is well solved in 3D printer slicing software.

Please: Does such an extension exist?

Thank you!

Nice drawbot! I'm not aware of anything that does that, but that doesnt mean its not out there! Not sure if the geomerative library that the polargraph software uses has anything that would help. I'd probably create some really big template 'fills' and just paste copies of them across the shape then do a boolean op to get left with the remains where the shape was. The tile clones can do some fun stuff too that would make interesting fills that are vector.
