Reflections and Gradients not saved when opening a eps file

Postby susie » Wed Sep 30, 2009 2:21 am

Hello All,

Sorry if this has cropped up many times however would appreciate any help offered :) as you can gather I am new to inkscape and I need to save files as eps .... first attempt was fine with a basic logo but then tried a simple Text reflection working on a Mac btw (leopard) and saved to desktop once again as an eps file which I need to do for the site I upload to however this time once saved when re'opened to check it was okay alas the reflections I had created with gradients was not included and It was just showing as plain text

Am I missing something ? is there someing else I should be doing before I save the file to include all the stages and effects ??

Many thanks in advance
Sue

this topic maybe: Re: Inkscape v0.47 and Illustrator 8 gradient compatibility ?

Gradients (as used for reflections) usually have one color and fade it with the alpha value (transparency). AFAIU EPS doesn't know about transparency - thus the effects need to be rasterized to keep their visual appearance. But I haven't read the specs of the PS/EPS file format myself ;-)

hth anyway, ~suv
