Postby beedee » Thu Feb 04, 2016 11:51 pm

Hi.

Just guessing.

Do you happen to use filters in that file? Like blurring for example.

Are all transparencies at 100%
-object transparency, alpha values in fills and strokes, in gradient steps, and, use no masking?

Would check these first.

Could be also colour profile related, like some embedded jpegs and such.

I think it has to do with the embedded raster image's colour profile.

Check these similar topics:

Hello
Wait:
- If I understand well, your printing company also provides the service of cutting?
- In order to do that cutting, It requires you to convert to PDF with a raster image (JPG) embedded in the document?

- I just wonder if it won't be better to trace (or auto trace) the image and then convert to PDF just with a vector graphic embedded. I mean... the company doesn't support other formats?

- The other solution, is to convert the JPG colour profile, and then convert to PDF, as It is explained in the links provided by Lazur

Anyway, If you solve it, please share your results

Greetings

Hi - are you using the Windows 64 bit version of Inkscape? If so, this could be a known problem, see release notes:
http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... own_issues

The solution to this specific bug is to create a white, fully opaque rectangle the size of your page and put it below your drawing.

Or to use the 32bit version.
Or to export to png instead.
Or to remove all transparencies from the drawing (including blur filters and other filters that may cause partially transparent objects).

AFAIR (from the feedback of affected users), that known issue only affects printing, and printing to PDF via custom printer driver, but not saving a copy as PDF via 'File > Save a Copy...'.

Based just on the topic («JPG to PDF image is all black») I'm somewhat doubtful that it has to do with transparency (JPEG images don't have transparency - even if (part of) the document background appears black in the generated (printed) PDF file, this should not affect the content of the JPEG image itself). But maybe I'm misreading the topic line, and the question is more about vector drawings ("cutting lines") created by (manually) tracing over imported JPEG images (?).

Without access to example file(s) (original raster graphics artwork, the Inkscape SVG file, and the generated PDF), and without knowing details about how the PDF files are produced on which OS/platform (e.g. using Inkscape's built-in PDF export, or printed via a custom printer driver (as many Inkscape users on Windows seem to prefer)) - my first guess would also have been CMYK JPEGs with embedded color profiles, as discussed (without real solution) in earlier topics. But it's just that - a guess.
