Hi All,
I'm new to Inkscape.
It suddenly continues to crash today when I press shift + click or use mouse drag to select some objects.
Have installed several times.
Any assistance is appreciated.

Re: Crash when shift+click/mouse drag
Howdy,
Offhand, I'd suspect your video card settings. I'd ensure the display is set to native resolution and check for driver updates. Turning off hardware acceleration can sometimes help.
Please post your Inkscape version and system info.

Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Re: Crash when shift+click/mouse drag
Hi Tyler,
My system is win 7 64bit, and inkscape 0.91 64 bit.
I updated my drivers' software, but it still crashes when I use mouse drag.
Thank you, have a nice day.
Wade

Re: Crash when shift+click/mouse drag
There are a number of users with Win7 -64 not crashing, so I imagine the issue is specific to your system/setup.
A recent report was a problem related to screen magnification causing erratic pointer behavior.
Another was related to a malfunctioning wireless mouse.
Again I would ensure the display settings are as simple/native/normal as possible and reduce any hardware acceleration.
More specific system info might help:
desktop/laptop/tablet
display adapter/gpu
cpu
concurrently running programs
display languages used
Inkscape language
Regards,
TD

Re: Crash when shift+click/mouse drag
Here are my specific system info
laptop (ASUS - U36JC)
gpu: NVIDIA GeForce 310M
cpu: Intel Core i5 480M
concurrently running programs (I have closed any program without Inkscape, but it still crashed)
display languages used (Traditional Chinese)
Inkscape language (Traditional Chinese, didn't find out where to set the language)
And I think I need to specify my situation, mouse drag, means using mouse drag to choose two or more object, if only one object is selected then no crash will happen)
Best,
Wade

Re: Crash when shift+click/mouse drag
I think I've seen some bugs reported when user language is Traditional Chinese. I'll search and report back.

Re: Crash when shift+click/mouse drag
Ok, well here are those bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bu ... xt=chinese They mostly seem to be related to text issues. I didn't peruse exactly, but none seem to have anything to do with your problem. Well, unless they are text objects that you're trying to select.
This one's a puzzler for sure! Still thinking.....

Re: Crash when shift+click/mouse drag
Maybe some more clarification.
When you select one object, and there's no crash, are you selecting it by a single click? Or are you dragging the selection box? What happens if you drag the selection box around nothing? Just curious, not sure what that would mean...but might point towards the mouse as the problem....maybe.
Any problems with the mouse in other programs?

Will be solved in up-coming bug-fix release Inkscape 0.91.1:
