[Solved] CMYK Missing Topic

Hi there !

Some time ago I participated in a topic that enlighted me about the CMYK issues in Inkscape ans it's relationship with other FOSS. The info in the topic was briliant and for some reason I couldn't reach it. That's the link:

If someone could help me telling why this info is unreachable and show me hot get it, I will really appreciate !!!

Can't recall.
Checking back some logs. Was that around Mon Jul 20, 2015?

Edit: Interesting. In the moderator logs there are only two actions listed from that topic of two members deleting their own posts back in Sat Apr 25, 2015.

I messed up the first part of that URL on purpose, so it wouldn't automatically become a link. But something's wrong with it besides that. First, it's a search result....at least partly. Second, there needs to be some number between "...f=" and "&t..." and between "...t=" and "&p..." There may be other things wrong with it, I'm not sure.

How long ago did you look at it last? If it's been a couple of years, it could be part of Pilosopong Tasyo's messages that were accidentally deleted, and never restored.

You could try the search again. The search term was "CMYK". If the message is still here, you should be able to find it again.

Oh, this is very strange! I tried the search. And that link actually comes from the search results (screenshot attached).

Search for exact title, same result with broken URL, attached.

Somehow, it must have been deleted. Not much of a chance it would ever be restored.... Maybe, since it's only 1 topic....assuming admin keeps backups....

inkscape which is built upon svg does not support CMYK because svg dos not support it. But the color picker tool (which is shared among FOSS app) let you choose the color in CMYK format. But then it is stored in rgb format.
When you want to revert to CMYK there's no guarantee you'll get your CMYK back.
CMYK: 100% black => rgb 0,0,0 => CMYK 100% black or CMYK 0%black 100%C 100%M 100%Y or something in between

The search result told us it was in the Help board, which is "...f=5...". But how to get the topic number (..."t=")?

I went to wayback machine https://web.archive.org that ... archives all the web.
I asked for all threads in viewforum.php?f=5 around the 24 jul 2015.
There was not snapshots at this date so I started at 1 aug 2015 and go to the page 2 of results.

But there was no snapshot for this precise topic.

and what I was looking for is the explanation from ~suv about this issues and how to understand the relationship between Inkscape and other graphic FOSS like Scribus.

It´s a pitty that the info (with links to more specific threads) is lost. Believe me, it helped A LOT to fix some workflow problems. I´m gonna cry in some dark plave and come back later to check if some miracle happened :lol:

You can still read all posts of that topic via 'Advanced Search' - paste the topic as search keywords, and use 'All available' characters of posts (search option at the bottom of the page).
